Who Am I ?

Beginning

Every journey needs a beginning, and this is mine.

I still remember back in grade 6 or 7, sitting beside my mamoo (uncle) while he worked on his Computer Science assignments. Everything made no sense to me, but I enjoyed sitting there in his silent company.

When his final project came, I was again with him, this time while he was working on the front end.
(The front end is what you see, like texts, colors, buttons. While the back end is what happens in the background, for example when you click ‘submit’ button on a form.)

I asked him some questions, and it was the first time the answers didn’t just fly over my head. Something actually made sense, and I felt a spark.

After that, I started learning HTML and CSS myself (common languages for front-end). I built some small web pages, then a few full websites, and later started exploring WordPress (another great tool for making websites).

To be honest, I’ve tried to build my personal website and start a blog at least five times before this (literally). Each time I failed, just at the last step of launching. But here I am again, finally writing my first post, of my first blog!

Who Am I?

There are two answers actually.

The short one (and closer to the truth): I don’t know yet. I’m still figuring it out, and I believe I’m nowhere near the answer.

The longer one (what you perhaps want to know):
I’m a 17-year-old Homo sapien, currently living in Punjab, Pakistan. My name is Mian Faiz, son of Mian Azmat Ali (great man, by the way).

I did my O Levels at Beaconhouse Sheikhupura, with sciences and Global Perspectives as an extra subject, and got straight A*s and As. Right now I’m doing the IBDP at Lahore Newlands.

Why Am I Starting This Blog?

The main reason is simple: to keep a record of my journey.

I want to look back years from now and see how much I’ve changed, what I’ve learned, and how life shaped me.

But there are a few more reasons:

  • Writing helps us think. When I write, I realize things I never thought about before. Even while writing this ‘Who am I ?’ post, I noticed I don’t really know who I am !
  • Writing exposes us to what we have been avoiding in our minds.
  • Because I can (and you can too). We live in a time where anyone with internet access can share their thoughts with the whole world. Why not take advantage of it?
  • To find myself. At the end of the day, that’s the real reason. I believe writing will help me understand myself better.

What Will I Be Blogging About?

Just like I don’t fully know who I am, I don’t fully know what this blog will be about either. But most likely:

  • Lessons I’ve learned (specially after failing)
  • My perspectives
  • Thoughts and reflections
  • Whatever feels natural at the time

A point to clear, I am still learning, still in the growth phase, still in the journey. I’m not an expert, and this blog will grow and evolve alongside me, inshallah. So don’t expect fully polished, well written, top-notch blog posts; this is just my corner of internet and I will treat it just how it feels naturally.

Think of it like a seed planted in the soil.
The writing and reflection will be its water. Seed is unaware of what lies above the soil but still determined to face whatever comes. (that was probably a bit too philosophical 😬, but yes, you got the sense !!)

Wrapping Up

That’s it for now. This is the start, and I hope inshallah this journey brings value for both me and you.

Expect honest thoughts, sometimes even unpopular ones.

You’ll also find me on Instagram and LinkedIn if you’d like to connect (links are everywhere including footer).

May Allah take care of you. Fee amanillah.

WAIT..by the way, before leaving do ask yourself, ‘WHO… ARE… YOU… ?’
Not required to tell me… But… please ask yourself.
Remember, life only goes 2 ways, either You tell the world who You are, or the world tells You.
So again…. who are you ?
